Did you use the 200mm lens for your NikonD50? Job well done. I have a hard time focusing on distant subjects with out a tripod or setting it down on something. You have a good eye.

Sorry, since there is no way of following posts or getting notified here, I didn't see your message until now. If you are still floating around, the answer is that I was using my 70-300mm on the D50 at around 250mm, as I wanted to get a little water in the shot.
